Tonight Show host and car nut Jay Leno is the latest personality to drive BMW's Hydrogen 7.
Leno joins actor Will Ferrell in BMW's Pioneer Program, which puts the keys to an enviro-friendly Hydrogen 7 in the hands of industry leaders and prominent figures for their daily use and evaluation.
"As an avid car enthusiast I'm always interested in the future of automotive technology," Leno said. "With the BMW Hydrogen 7, I can experience all the fun and great features of a performance car, yet know that I'm being environmentally friendly at the same time.
"I look forward to driving the Hydrogen 7 and learning more about hydrogen as a fuel for our future."
The addition of the Hydrogen 7 to Leno's huge 20,000-square-foot garage is fitting — called a "green garage" for its environmentally friendliness, it gets much of its energy from steam and natural gas.
Twenty-five of 100 Hydrogen 7s that are produced will be used in evaluation programs in the USA.
The Hydrogen 7 is a fully developed production model that meets all the standards for driving on American roads. Running in hydrogen mode, BMW's largest luxury car emits nothing but water vapor.
BMW believes hydrogen will replace petroleum as the long-term alternative to fossil fuel, and hopes the Hydrogen 7 will play a pioneering role in driving forward hydrogen technologies.
